Usage Policy

Effective June 12, 2026.

See also Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy.

Purpose

This policy describes how Hearts+ may and may not be used. It is part of the Hearts+ Terms and Conditions: by using the platform, you agree to follow it. It exists for one reason: Hearts+ holds health information and supports people managing a serious condition, and both deserve protection.

Use Hearts+ for yourself

Your account is yours alone. Use Hearts+ for your own self-care as a participant in the research program. Record your own readings, your own symptoms, and your own medications. Do not submit another person's health information through your account, and do not let anyone else use your sign-in. Care contacts have their own accounts and their own access.

Emergencies

Hearts+ is never the right channel for an emergency. If you believe you are having a medical emergency, call 911 immediately. Messages to SAHRA are not monitored the way an emergency line is, and no feature of the platform should be used to report or wait out an urgent medical situation.

Prohibited actions

You may not:

  • Attempt to access another person's account or health information.
  • Probe, scan, overload, or otherwise interfere with the platform or its security measures.
  • Work around access controls, rate limits, or authentication.
  • Copy, scrape, or harvest data from the platform by automated means.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code or models behind the platform.
  • Use the platform to harass or harm others, including platform and research staff.
  • Upload content you do not have the right to share, or content that is unlawful.
  • Misrepresent who you are, including impersonating staff, clinicians, or other participants.
  • Resell access to the platform or use it for any commercial purpose.
  • Use the platform for anything unlawful.

Reporting problems

If you find a security weakness, see something that looks wrong, or believe someone is misusing the platform, tell us through Help and support in the app. Reporting in good faith will never count against you.

How we enforce this policy

Violations may lead to a warning, suspension, or closure of an account, as the Terms and Conditions describe. Where misuse involves another person's health information or the law, we may also have obligations to investigate and report. If an account is suspended or closed, we will say why.
